(24/9/26) From today until 26 September, the Ratzinger Centre at the Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá is organising the international academic conference ‘Joseph Ratzinger’s Centenary: Paths of Faith, Hope and Charity’. The event forms part of the programme of worldwide celebrations for the centenary of Benedict XVI, promoted by the Ratzinger Foundation.

Over the course of the three days of the conference, there will be an opportunity to reflect on the relevance today of a body of thought that has been able to engage with modernity without compromising the truth.

Specifically, the proceedings will centre on three key themes, which correspond to the three theological virtues.

The first will be devoted to “Faith, Science and Culture”: towards a balance between technical progress, morality and religion; Ratzinger’s “open reason” in dialogue with science and moral responsibility.

The second will centre on ‘Hope, Truth and Liberation’: Christian hope as a response to nihilism; the relationship between truth and freedom; and Christian engagement in the political sphere.

Finally, ‘Charity, the Church and Peace’: social doctrine from Benedict XVI to Leo XIV; and charity as the primary force for the development of peoples.
