The 11th International Conference of the Ratzinger Foundation in Pamplona

Convegno Pamplona

The 11th International Conference, promoted by the Foundation, took place at the University of Navarra in Pamplona from April 28 to 30, 2025, on the theme "Evangelization. Believing, Thinking, and Celebrating According to Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI."

"On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the awarding of the honorary doctorate," the organizers explained, "the University of Navarra is proud to pay homage to the profound theological legacy of Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI. Inspired by the principles of the Second Vatican Council and the teachings of Pope Francis, this celebration deepens his vision of evangelization."

"The program is structured as a triptych," they continue, "first, an exploration of Scripture as the cornerstone of evangelization, with particular attention to the nuances of hermeneutics; second, the liturgy, where Christ becomes present among his people and breathes life into the Church; third, a reflection on the dialogue between Christian faith and reason, as well as its dynamic engagement with culture throughout history and in the contemporary world."

The conference was attended by Cardinals Kurt Koch (video), Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, and Malcom Ranjith (written text), Archbishop of Colombo, and in the presence of Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Apostolic Nuncio to Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia, and Professors Tracey Rowland and Pablo Blanco, past recipients of the Ratzinger Prize. The Symposium opened with a recorded greeting from Father Federico Lombardi, president of the Ratzinger Foundation, and the rector of the University, María Iraburu Elizalde.

The Conference Proceedings have been published in Spanish: Pablo Blanco Sarto/Pierluca Azzaro (eds), Evangelización Biblia, Liturgia Y Razón Según J. Ratzinger / Benedicto XVI, Eunsa Ediciones Univ Navarra 2025, pp. 252.
