(17/3/16) During the Ordinary Public Consistory for the canonization of the Blessed on 15th March, Pope Francis has announced that Teresa of Calcutta will be made saint on 4th September.

“I am personally grateful to this courageous woman whom I have always felt beside me. Mother Teresa, an icon of the Good Samaritan, went everywhere to serve Christ in the poorest of the poor. Not even conflict and war could stand in her way” John Paul II said on 19th October 2003, during the beatification ceremony.

In a message sent in 2010 to Sister Mary Prema – the Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity she had founded – for the centenary celebrations of the birth of Blessed Mother Teresa, Benedict XVI defined her as an “exemplary model of Christian virtue” and an “inestimable gift”. “Having answered to the direct call of the Lord with confidence – said Benedict XVI – Mother Teresa exemplified the words of Saint John: ‘Beloved, if God so loves us, we ought also to love one another. If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us’ (cf. Jn 4:11-12)”.
