On Sunday 19^th October 2014, in St. Peter’s square, Pope Francis beatified Paul VI. It was during a celebration at the end of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the family. “When we look to this great Pope, this courageous Christian, this tireless apostle – Pope Francis affirmed during his homily – we cannot but say a word as simple as it is deep and important in the sight of God: thanks! Thank you, our dear and beloved Pope Paul VI! Thank you for your humble and prophetic witness of love for Christ and his Church!”. Among the other celebrants, there was also the Pope emeritus Benedict XVI, that was ordained as cardinal in 1977 by Pope Montini.
