A STATUE OF BENEDICT XVI WAS INAUGURATED IN SULMONA

(5/10/16) The new statue of Benedict XVI celebrating the visit to Sulmona on 4th July 2010 was inaugurated on Sunday 2nd October. It was blessed by the archbishop Georg Gänswein, prefect of the Pontifical Household and personal secretary of the emeritus Pope.

“The memorial statue representing the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI with open arms, as he greeted his believers in Piazza Garibaldi, symbolises his embrace to the whole town and diocese. It has been located behind the apse of the Cathedral of San Panfilo in order to welcome the visitors” as the bishop of Sulmona-Valva Msgr. Angelo Spina explained.
