“Vultum Dei quaerere”

(22/7/16) The Apostolic Constitution Vultum Dei quaerere that Pope Francis wrote on female contemplative life was presented today, on the celebration day of St. Mary Magdalene. "Be beacons to those near to you and, above all, to those far away - Pope Francis wrote in a passage of the document - . Be torches to guide men and women along their journey through the dark night of time. Be sentinels of the morning, heralding the dawn". According to Pope Francis "the great challenge faced by consecrated people is to persevere in seeking God “with the eyes of faith in a world which ignores His presence”". While reading the Constitution we remember what Benedict  XVI said at the Collège des Bernardins of Paris in 2008. He was talking about monastic life that showed the Unity of Europe and he said that the aim of the monks was “quaerere Deum, to look for God. Amid the confusion of the time, in which nothing seemed permanent, they wanted to do the essential – to make an effort to find what was eternally valid and lasting, life itself".
