POPE FRANCIS AND NEW CARDINALS VISITED BENEDICT XVI

21/11/16) On Saturday 19th in the morning Pope Francis – at the end of the Consistory he presided in Saint Peter’s Basilica – went to the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery with the new cardinals in order to visit the emeritus Pope Benedict XVI.

The Pope and the cardinals went to the Monastery by minibuses. They were welcomed by Msgr. Georg Gänswein, prefect of the Papal Household and personal secretary of the Pope Emeritus. They greeted Benedict XVI and said a prayer together. The Pope and the emeritus Pope then gave their blessing to the audience.
