(30/3/16) At the beginning of the Holy Week, Pope Francis visited the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery (Vatican City) in order to wish him a Happy Easter. Pope Benedict XVI also presided over the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and the other Easter rituals. “The Pope’s entourage was sorry about the way some people interpreted Msgr. Georg Gänswein’s words, - as the news given by ANSA reported - in fact the Pope’s personal secretary and prefect of the Pontifical Household had recently declared that Ratzinger was ‘like a candle which is slowly, serenely fading’. These words have been misunderstood according to the people who live next to Benedict XVI. The secretary was only saying that Benedict XVI is nearly 90 years old and he is aging but he is not diseased”.
