(2/3/16) L’Âme de la prière, the book published by Artège Editions, collects some passages from the catechesis in which Benedict XVI deals with the topic of prayer, during Wednesday general audiences held between 2011 and 2012. It is a practical guide concentrating on the experience of prayer in daily life. The Pope evokes the universal aspiration to a heart to heart conversation with God, as it happens in the Old and the New Testament, when God teaches us to pray. This divine pedagogy is then developed in the liturgy, that is the core of Christian life. The book has seven chapters: the prayer in history, the prayer in the Old Testament, the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, Saint Paul's letters, the Apocalypse and the liturgical prayer. Benedict XVI introduces us to the power of prayer with his simple and enjoyable way of writing.
