The book was published in Italy by Garzanti. The emeritus Pope answers to the many questions about his public and private life: his career as a theologian, the days of the Second Vatican Council, his friendship with John Paul II, his pontifical election, the scandals regarding abuses of the clergy and Vatileaks, the days before his resignation was announced.
Ultime conversazioni is the forth interview-book with Seewald, after Salt of the earth (1996), God and the world (2001) and Light of the world (2010).
