(12/1/16) “The Name of God Is Mercy” and mercy is the “identity card” of God. The conversation between Pope Francis and the Vatican reporter Andrea Tornielli in the book-length interview “The Name of God Is Mercy” starts with these considerations. The presentation of the book was held this morning at the Maior Hall of the Augustinian Patristic Institute of Rome. The meeting was guided by father Federico Lombardi, head of the Press Room of the Holy See and it was attended, among others, by Pietro Parolin, cardinal Secretary of State, the actor Roberto Benigni, the director of the Vatican Publishing House father Giuseppe Costa and Zhang Agostino Jianqing, a Chinese man detained in Padua, who told about his experience with Mercy. The book contains 9 chapters and 40 questions, it is published by Piemme and its cover is signed by Pope Francis. It is available in 86 countries. The Pope deals with the topic of Mercy through his personal experience and he explains the reasons why he wanted the extraordinary Jubilee.
